These words of Rudolf Steiner are the essence of the work of the Wurru-Wurru Steiner Early Childhood Centre. Our location for 2011 will be in a beautiful space in Mornington.
Founded in 1998, and incorporated in 2008, Wurru-Wurru has grown from one playgroup of five children to a substantial community of families across the Mornington Peninsula. Our name means ‘The Sky’ in the Boonwurrung language, and we acknowledge the Boonwurrung people as the traditional owners of the land in which we live and work.
We provide a holistic, play based programme for children from birth to school age, with great respect for each stage of your child’s development. Goodness, beauty and truth are core values which are reflected in all that we present to the children and in the physical environment we create for them.
Young children learn primarily through imitation and physical activity, and their play is their ‘work’. Within a rhythmical framework, free play is respected as one of the most important ways a child explores and learns about the world. Helping children develop a reverence for nature is an important part of our ethos.
We provide parent and child groups for children 3 and under, and kindergarten programmes within a rostered playgroup for children from 3 to 6 years of age.
This year we have introduced an enriching adult education programme with a combination of evening speakers and practical workshops open to all. We are very pleased to be able to add to this a Steiner Craft Curriculum Course in 2011.
We are actively working to establish an Independent Steiner School and Kindergarten on the Peninsula. For further information please email: info@wurruwurru.com
